Workout Recap + Meal Planning

Hi all! I hope you’re making the most of this long weekend.  We enjoyed hosting family for a few days.  After everyone left, we spent Saturday painting clay ornaments, getting a tree and decorating for the holidays.  I can’t believe tomorrow is December already!

I was fighting a bug this week and didn’t stick to my training plan… it happens. Here’s the workout recap from this week:

Sunday: 4 easy (8:30 pace)

Monday: spin + push ups + kettlebell swings

Tuesday:  7 easy

Wednesday:  off

Thursday: 8k Turkey Trot plus w/u and c/d (8.5 total)

Friday: off- sick

Saturday: 9 easy run (cut my long run short, still not 100%)

I’m happy with how I ran Thursday but as soon as I stopped, my stomach felt off again.  I rested Friday and then cut my run short yesterday as well.   I might try to get in the other half of my long run today if I’m feeling up for it.  If not, I’ll chalk it up as a cut back week.

The race was fun! More on that tomorrow.  Here’s the meal plan for the week:

Sunday: More turkey leftovers (soup? over salad?)

Monday: Rosemary Salmon with Orange Zest+ roasted cauliflower

Tuesday: Black beans in the crock pot over rice

Wednesday:  Leftovers

Thursday:  Crockpot Taco Chili

Friday: Spaghetti Squash Crust Pizza

Saturday: Out

Do you have traditions for the days after Thanksgiving?

How many days can you eat turkey before you’re tired of it?!

  1. Since we didn’t host Thanksgiving there were no leftovers:( but when we celebrated with my parents a few weeks ago they sent us home with some, so I do think I got my fill of turkey this year! Honestly I think I could eat Thanksgiving food for a week before I started to get sick of it. Hope you’re feeling better and can get back to your regular training!

  2. We go hiking at Mohonk Mountain Preserve and then cut down our Christmas Tree the day after Thanksgiving. Five years strong so far! I actually don’t like turkey…at all. However, your black beans look great! I haven’t done my menu planning yet and think I will add that.

  3. Since T and I are just beginning our journey of living together, we don’t have too many traditions right now. I wish we did. Anyways, all of your food looks really good and thanks for sharing!

  5. It must’ve been the week of feeling under the weather. I myself had a rough few days. Finally feeling like I’m getting back to my old self again. Hopefully that’s the same for you <3

  6. I think I tire of turkey after about three meals. I have yet to try and create new meals with leftover turkey.. I’m usually pretty happy with just eating the turkey and I change around the sides to make the meal feel “different”.

We don’t have any set traditions on the day after Thanksgiving except to put up the Christmas tree and make the house a little more Christmasy.

For the past 14 years my daughter and I have gone black friday shopping beginning before sunrise. We have a blast! It helps that I love the mall this time of year.
