WIAW + Day in Life

This post was written as a Stonyfield Ambassador.  All opinions are my own.

Here’s a little peak at a day in life lately.

WIAW Nov 15

Fall is gorgeous here right now! I got out first thing in the morning for a 7 mile run before my husband was out the door. I tried to ignore the day’s to-do list in my head and soak up the beauty around me and came back much more energized.

The minute I stepped inside, I was needed. My 5 yo presented me with fashion designs that she insisted I begin sewing before she got back from school (huh?) and the baby wanted to follow me into the shower.

I managed to get myself ready, changed the baby, finished packing L’s lunch and ate a Stonyfield Greek yogurt + raspberry smoothie and Nature’s Path granola.

WIAW nov breakfastSmoothies are a favorite right now and I love adding crunch with the Pumpkin Flax granola- so good! Stonyfield plain yogurt boosts the protein in my smoothie and helps to keep me full.

After a quick hair brushing, scramble for shoes and jackets, the three of us headed out the door to walk L to school.

We had a little miscommunication about schedules and I had a nutrition client coming on a morning with no childcare. Thankfully, baby J is still a good morning napper.   I cleared the house clutter, put her down at 9:30, prepped for my client and met with her for an hour.

The house was still quiet which gave me a chance to check in with my runners and their training plans before my stomach said it was time to eat!

WIAW Fish and chickpeas and asparagus

Leftovers for lunch! I started with a fish and chickpea dish with asparagus, which filled me up yesterday. Today… not so much. My belly was asking for more carbs! I added a piece of Ezekial raisin toast with almond butter and the vitamins I forgot to take at breakfast.

Plus an apple and two coconut butter chocolate chip bites…  and later kale chips with nutritional yeast.

WIAW Nov snacks

Ahh, success. A happy belly.

Baby J and I played around the house and I threw her cloth diapers in the laundry, a chore we repeat every 3 days. I had a little more work to do before picking up big sis, so I did something I haven’t done yet… we went to the gym to use the childcare for an hour and I didn’t work out! I sat in the coffee shop instead.

Back at home, we attempted to squeeze the second nap in before pick up time.  Fail.  She played in her crib instead.

I packed up a snack for L and we left to pick her up – 70 degrees in November! I’m in denial that temps are about to change.

I switched around my meal plan and decided Thursday’s eggs would work well, as we were missing a few ingredients for sushi.

Eggs in tomato sauceTwo eggs in tomato sauce with more avocado for me, and egg and mushroom scramble for the girls.

The evening was a whirlwind, as usual.  Because baby J skipped her afternoon nap, she was unraveling and hanging on to my leg as I tried to clean up the kitchen.  When my husband got home we switched duties- he took bedtime for the evening and I headed to Trader Joes to restock a few things.

I had a training call afterwards and opened this amazing dark chocolate almond bark and a little popcorn…

Do you have a favorite Trader Joe’s product?

What’s your favorite time of day to run?

  1. I have yet to use the gym daycare to sit and work but I’m sure I will one of these days! It’s great to have options. As for Trader’s Joes – I’ve never actually been there!!! I know, but it’s 45 minutes from my house and right next to a huge mall with an Athleta store so, if I’m traveling that far, I’m not going to Trader Joes!…also because there is no universe that would allow for BOTH!

  2. You are a rockstar for seeing a client while a child naps – no joke, the thought of that gives me a knot in my chest! Clearly you’re skilled at balancing everything, but I get it, we have to go with what the day gives us many times! And I agree that using gym daycare to get an hour of work in is genius!

  3. I love to run first thing in the morning…I have to otherwise running outside later in the day just isn’t going to happen. Plus now that the mornings are bright, it is extra motivation. The weather is AMAZING right now…Soaking it all up, because who knows when it is going to drop…

  4. I love that you used gym daycare while not working out!

My current favorite TJs item is the Japanese fried rice in the frozen section. Add tempeh and some steamed broccoli and it’s a meal that’s ready in 12 min!

  5. I used to post WIAW much more frequently as well but it seems I have hopped off the band wagon too. I always enjoy seeing what you are up too though. I love the gorgeous fall shots. Sometimes it’s so hard to not get stuck into thinking of too do lists while running.

  6. Wow, that’s a full day! It’s good that you got out for your run in the morning, as it seems like after that, there really is no time! I really love the TJ’s dried coconut and their smokehouse almonds. However, I rarely buy them as its WAY to easy to eat the entire bag in one sitting!! I have no control about those things!

  7. Grocery story runs are the BEST! WIAW is probably my favorite link-up of the week. Maybe because I write less and post more pictures of food. Hehe… 🙂 I love that I found your blog, because it’s so fun to follow around NYC bloggers. 🙂

  8. I am in denial about the weather too – it was in the 70s the last few days and now here today its foggy and raining and I just want to get outside and walk walk walk like I did the last few days. Maybe a quick walk to and from school 🙂

  10. My favorite time to run these days is after I drop the last little one at school. It is mid morning and lately has been a really beautiful time to run. I am going to have to squeeze in an early am run this week since all kids will be home for Veteran’s Day! I know everyone has said this already, but genius on using the gym daycare to work!! I love, love Trader Joe’s! Too many favorites to name – I do love getting their big bag of raw almonds to snack on during the day!
