Good morning!
I’ve started looking forward to this post. There’s something helpful about stopping to reflect back on how the week has gone, and looking forward to plan out the menu. Maybe it helps me feel in control of life for a brief moment!
The half marathon is two weeks out. I finally feel like my motivation is back to kick up the miles, and now I only have one more week to get in some good training before tapering. Here was my week:
Weekly workout recap
Monday: Easy 10.5 run
Tuesday: Tina’s Boot camp + 1 hour spin
Wednesday: 5 mile easy run, 8:15 pace + Cathe’s dvd (more on this soon!)
Thursday: 9 mile run with 4x 7 minutes at tempo pace ( 7:00/mile) 2 min recoveries
Friday: Off
Saturday: 3 run easy + taught spin class + arms/core
Sunday: Planning 12 miles @ 8:30 pace with running buddy May
The weather has been perfect lately. Nice and cool with no humidity, which is why Wednesday’s “easy” run was a little faster than planned.
I’m still getting used to sweating with short hair. It was a little crazy post-spin yesterday.
We did make it out for dinner alone Friday night, which was a treat! And the Spinach Portabellos and Elle’s Lentil loaf were big hits as well. Here’s the plan for the coming week:

Sunday: Leftovers
Monday: Cilantro pesto fish tacos
Tuesday: Joann’s Pea and Potato Curry
Wednesday: Polenta Pie
Thursday: Tofu Broccoli Red Curry and brown rice (we like the recipe from Thai Kitchen red curry jar)
Friday: Sister-in-law here for the weekend
Saturday: Out to eat
Join us and/or visit a few new friend’s menus!

Great week of workouts!Don’t you love when everything jives?
I was thinking of Elle’s Lentil loaf for this week…maybe next week!

That was definitely a solid week! I’m curious what the DVD was you used on Wednesday. Happy Sunday!

I love your crazy post-workout hair!
I am trying to menu plan but can’t get past Tuesday, or Wednesday, since I have a work dinner Wednesday. I wil check out some of your recipes, but my husband doesn’t like tofu or polenta.

What an awesome running week you had! I’ve been enjoying the menu planning myself. It really helps make your evenings easier when you get home from work and have it all planned out.

I’m so jealous that you’ve bounced back from your marathon so quickly! Best of luck in your upcoming half. Awesome that you have a training partner too. YAY!

Thanks, Allison! It didn’t feel like I bounced back all that quickly… the first 3-4 weeks were very minimal running. But this week felt awesome!

Love your hair! Also, great work-outs. I am currently using just under 8 min. miles for my tempo pace days, and I noticed you are using it for your easy days
Good work!

Oh, brrrr. Yes, I am savoring this Texas winter, as it may be one of our last! I don’t miss “real” winter at all.

Excellent week of workout. You are positioned to PR for the half! It’ll be fun! I am glad to finally see reasonable weather. It’s amazing how much more effort it is to work out in the humidity!
Have a great week!
Very solid workout week! Can’t wait to hear what you think of that video!

I’m finding that I’m replying parts to meals but not total meals…like different veggies for weekly lunch salads and bowls….helps for sure! Great week Laura!

Wow, that’s a lot of miles! Curious how you fit those in…I’m lucky to get a 90-minute run in on Wednesdays, and I’m always grateful when there’s less on the schedule.
I’m glad you feel “back”, and with a half-marathon on the schedule to boot.
Monday’s ten miler was “technically” last week’s long run, got pushed over to Monday because of the busy RRCA weekend. And I’m lucky that my husband’s schedule is flexible, so I got up a little early, and he got into work a little late.

Best of luck on your planned long run tomorrow, and your upcoming half!!

Thanks so much!
Wow! You had an awesome week. Your distance and speed are fantastic. Killer. I’m doing a 20 minute tempo tomorrow at 8:00 that I am so so nervous about. Last time I did tempo for 15 minutes it was very difficult, and I’m scared to add 5 more minutes. Your mile repeats at 7:00/mile are impressive. Nice going! Are you going for a PR at this half in two weeks? Marathon training really builds a killer base.

Thanks, Meghan! I got more miles in than I had planned on, but it was nice to finally feel really good! And yes, I’m hoping for a pr- my last half was mid 70s and humid, so a cooler day would help.

I love the way you always have running as the base, but then add in a whole lot of extra fun stuff. The bootcamp sounds like fun!

The fitness you gained from marathon training will carry over really nicely into your half – you’ll do awesome! I agree about menu planning – it is nice to feel like there’s something that’s under control : )

I have that red curry paste but have never thought to try the recipe on the jar! Lentil loaf is on my list but I never actually make it, no idea why.

Great workouts for the week Laura! I used to have short hair for the longest time and while I loved it, it did take a while to figure out how to control it all while I was working out. Definitely headbands and hair clips!

I miss my short hair. I think about cutting it, but the this the longest that my hair has ever been. I don’t know if I want short hair that bad or not.
