Two new favorite portable snacks (plus a giveaway)

Hi everyone,

I hope your week is going well! I have vacations on the brain lately… after sharing the resistance band workout last week, I was gathering some snacks for our beach trip last weekend and wanted to share two new ones with you.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of OneBar.

I’m hitting the third trimester sweets cravings- I cannot get enough fruit or chocolate.  I’m limiting the chocolate, but this is an amazing time of year for fresh fruit!

I recently came across the One Bar, have you tried these?

It’s one delicious serving of fruit with no added sugars, colors or artificial sweeteners.  For example, the ingredient list for the mango bar is: dried mango, dried pear, apple juice concentrate, inolin fiber and baobab superfruit.

Baobab is a powerful super fruit, packed with nutrition- it has six times the amount of potassium as a banana, one of the few plant sources of dietary calcium, and is high in Vitamin C, fiber and magnesium.

I love that baobab is used in these.

And there are only 70 calories per bar.  It’s easy for me (or my four year old) to overdo the handfuls of dried fruit, so a portioned package is a plus.  A perfect snack for a beach weekend away.

The other snack I packed was to help satisfy the chocolate cravings.  These are gluten and dairy free, with a good about of protein and healthy fat.

No Bake Chocolate Almond Balls

by Mommy, Run Fast

  • 3 Tbsp melted coconut oil
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 c. almond meal (flour)
  • 1/4 c. flaxseed, ground
  • 1/4 c. chocolate protein powder or additional almond meal
  • optional tsp of water or almond milk
  • 1/3 c. mini dark chocolate chips

Melt the coconut oil in a bowl and stir in the honey and vanilla to combine well. Add the almond meal, flax and protein powder and mix until a sticky dough forms. Add a tsp of water or almond milk if needed to help hold the batter together. Stir in dark chocolate chips and form into small balls. Refrigerate and enjoy!

  1. We go camping frequently–bars like this are easy to pack and a tasty treat when you are hiking.

  2. These would go in the camper for our up coming biking adventure in South Dakota.

  3. These would be great for swim lessons and hanging out at the bounce house.

  4. I’ve never even heard of that fruit but I’d really like to try it 🙂

  5. Oh wow, never heard of those. I always love finding new, healthy bars though. Thanks so much for sharing. When we hit the road for Florida each year, I always try to pack up a large bag of protein bars (I like ThinkThin), Clif Bars, apples, peanut butter packets. I would definitely take these and also keep some on my purse. I always try to keep bars in my purse b/c you just never know when you might NEED one LOL

  6. These would be perfect for a beach trip, or hiking! I usually pack apples and nuts when I need a healthy on-the-go snack. These look really good 🙂

  7. Mmm. Never heard of these, but they sound great! I love all natural fruit leather, but sometimes want something with a little more texture and bite to it. This sounds like just the thing!

  8. I pack almonds and granola bars when traveling! For my baby, her fruit puree pouches are great. I’d take these bars on-the-go for when we are in a hurry to a playdate or the gym without having breakfast. It’d be a great snack for those rushed times when I can’t get in a meal. Thanks for the opportunity!

  9. your treats look awesome! I would take the One Bars with me in my bag when I go out on errands, etc. I think it is always good to have my own snack ready to go.

  10. Hmm, I’ve never heard of ONEbar. I like Larabars but I’ll have to check this out. I also just got a shipment of chocolate protein powder, so looks like I have to try making these no bake balls! I am all about the no bake stuff 🙂

  12. These OneBars are making their way around the inter webs. I guess I need to get on the ball and order some! I do love my Vega bars and I pack them for snacks along with nuts and dried cherries. I just love that combo!!!

  13. We pack granola or trail mix, fruit leather, and fruit for traveling. These would be great, too; I’d love them as snacks when I travel by airplane.

  14. I love easy yet healthy snacks I can just throw in my purse when I’m on the go. That way, if I get hungry I have a good choice at the ready.
