Training, Meal plan and Kicking off the 5 and 10

Hey everyone!

I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend.  We’ve had a lot of down time, which is just what I needed.  I even got a nap in yesterday!

Today kicks off the 5 and 10 virtual race series– run your 5 mile or 10 mile “race” by Thursday, the 5th! Everyone participating should have received an email from me with a link to the results spreadsheet (Note: Jessica, Ashlee and Desiree- I don’t have your email! Please get in touch with me- thanks!!)

So another week of training is done.  Here’s how the week looked:

Sunday:  8.5 mile group run (8:30 ave)

Monday: 25 minute elliptical + mixed with strength circuit

Tuesday: 8 mile tempo run, splits (8:24, 7:35, 7:18, 7:0, 7:04, 7:31, 7:30, 7:36)

Wednesday: 8 easy run (8:50 ave) + core

Thursday: Strength circuit and 20 minute walk

Friday: 5.5 run, easy pace

Saturday: 14 long run with new running buddies

I have a 5k tomorrow morning, and I don’t think I’m going to “race it” as my knees are starting to feel it from all these NJ hills.  I’m hoping for a solid tempo run in the middle of 6-8 miles.  But either way, it should be fun!

Later tomorrow, my daughter and I will head to PA to spend a few days with my parents.  Her preschool starts Wednesday, but her first day is the following Monday so I’m taking my mom up on her offer for a little childcare help so I can get some work done this week.

Staying with my parents makes meal planning easy!

Sunday: Travel

Monday: In PA

Tuesday: In PA

Wednesday: In PA

Thursday: In PA

Friday: Grilled salmon, Quinoa Tabbouleh Salad and homemade guacamole

Saturday: Homemade Pizza

What do you have planned for Labor Day?

  1. Love to see how you are settling into your new surroundings. Have fun with the 5/10 mile virtual race series! I’m NOT ready for that kind of mileage – just enjoying long, brisk pup walks while we still have decent weather in Northeast Ohio!

  2. So glad that you are adjusting well to NJ and getting to spend time with your family! You are FAST woman! I’m taking 2 full rest days today and tomorrow. Heading out for some fun today with a friend to Royal Oaks…Have you heard of it? And then just laying low, getting work done, food prep, and trying to relax. LOL! Enjoy your Labor Day!

  3. Now, that’s the way to do a meal plan. 🙂 I added your homemade pizza to my meals this week, too. Can’t wait to try it!!

Nothing really planned for Labor Day. We’re hoping to go to a car dealership to see what kind of deal they can get us on a new car. Hopefully we’ll get a deal too good to pass up!

  5. So funny, you must be 1-2 weeks ahead of me in your marathon training plan. I’ve got an 8-mile tempo run later this week, and my goal pace is around 7:30. Hope your 5K went well! I’ve got a 10K next weekend, and I’m excited to race. 10K is going to feel really short after my recent long runs. Just have to convince myself to do a decent warm-up and cool-down to get my miles in for the week!

  6. Just signed up for the race series! I had to drop out of the last one due to my stress fracture so I’m excited to be back! I don’t have big plans for today, just cross training and strength training! And family time of course 🙂
