Thursday Track and Endorphin Bracelet Giveaway

I’ve been excited all week for our Thursday track session.  Our running group has limited access to the local track and finally got in the last few weeks on Thursday nights.  However, the last two weeks I was running easy before the half and then the 10k, and didn’t have the chance to take advantage of it.

Until last night. The plan was 8-12x 400s with a warm up and cool down (I did 10).  My goal for the spring is to work on speed for the shorter races (more details on my training plan soon!)

And this week, I signed up for two 5ks and a 4 mile race over the next two months.  Even more motivation to get to the track!

The first race is only two weeks away, so I don’t expect the track work to pay off by then, but I’m hoping to see improvement by the final race in May.

For last night’s session, my goal was 1:30 per 400 repeat, and I was right where I wanted to be: 1:30, 1:30, 1:30, 1:30, 1:29, 1:30, 1:29, 1:29, 1:28, 1:28.

It helps that I’m one of the slowest members and have lots of speedy people to chase and admire!

Here’s one of my new favorite pieces of motivation for speed work:

I won this bracelet through Yo Momma Run’s giveaway a month ago, and was thrilled that Endorphin Warrior Bracelets donated one to my 5 by the 5th virtual participants as a prize.  They also offered an additional bracelet as a giveaway. Another chance to win one!

I love the simple, inspiring messages on these bracelets.  Each word conveys a strong message:

Such powerful words to boost determination and confidence mid-race, or in my case, mid-speed workout.

These strong, positive words can boost our mood and perspective any time of day, running or not.

You can find all the possible word and style combinations at Endorphin Warrior.  Would you like one?

To Enter (mandatory):

1) Go to Endorphin Warrior and tell me which message you would choose

For additional entries, leave a comment for each:

2) Follow Endorphin Warrior on Twitter or Facebook   (tell me you did in a comment)

3) Follow me on Twitter or Instagram (tell me in a comment)

4) Tweet about the giveaway and let me know you did, here’s one option:

“Need inspiration? Enter to win an @EndorphnWarrior bracelet with a motivational message from @mommyrunfaster:”

I will announce the winner next Friday.  To double your chances, check out Sarah’s giveaway this week as well!

Have a fantastic weekend!

  1. I would choose “Conquer”. There are so many things in life that I’d like to Conquer and this would be a great reminder!

  2. I have the same bracelet, so not entering, but wanted to comment on the quarter splits–nice work! You’re going to get a lot out of group track sessions. I used to go to a Tues. night coached track workout and always loved it. Wish we still had it here!

  4. What fantastic splits – consistent and strong 1:28-1:30 for 400m reps! And negative splits too. Very awesome! I am glad i took the extra 1/2 day of rest. Feeling better this morning. 9 MP miles DONE on the bayou.

  5. I would choose the BELIEVE one, for sure. That’s always what I’ve struggled with the most – believing that I CAN do what I want to do.

  6. I would choose Persevere-since I’ve picked up running later in life and have really pushed myself out of my cofort zone!

  7. I would choose “breathe”.
Sometimes you just have to take a breath to get through it all.
I am following you on Twitter and Instagram (beautifulone_2) as well as facebook.
    Following Endorphin Warrior too!

  8. Great giveaway Laura! And I’m glad you made it out on the track. I really want to do some track workouts myself but not sure what our access to them around here are. I need to check into it. I was actually eyeballing the Endorphin Bracelets the other day for a gift for a friend. If I were to win, I would choose “Courage”.

  9. Awesome job on your track session. I would call those splits some of the most consistent I’ve seen in a while. Nice job! And I love your switch to focus on speed for a bit. I’m running a goal half Sunday and another one in April, and then before CHI Marathon training starts I’m going to take a little running break and do a lot of XT and some short running.
