Marathon training recap + Meal plan

Hi everyone,

What a gorgeous fall weekend here! We have another set of friends visiting this weekend (and their two kids) so it’s been the perfect weekend to get out and enjoy the weather.

I pushed my long run back to today so that I could more fully enjoy our Saturday together.  Next Sunday is my half marathon.  I haven’t raced a half since the spring and I’m getting excited!

Sunday:  8 recovery miles, 9:20 ave pace

Monday: XT: 45 minutes elliptical + arms/core

Tuesday: 8 mile run with a few 6 minute bursts at 6:45 pace

Wednesday: 5 easy miles + 1 hour spin

Thursday: NMTZ (strength)

Friday: 10 mile track workout with 3 x 1600s (6:37, 6:25, 6:35) This was TOUGH after strength the day before, but I pushed through.

Saturday: Off

Sunday: Long run (12-16)

For those of you who have been doing the monthly detox, we’ll cut out sugar for the week beginning next Monday. I feel like I say this every month, but I really need it again!

 

 

Sunday: Breakfast for dinner + Anne’s Pumpkin Pie smoothie

Monday: Ground turkey tacos and/or taco salad with guacamole

Tuesday: Garden Fritters + Green salad

Wednesday: Baked Lemon Fish, rice and roasted veggies

Thursday: Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Friday: Leftovers

Saturday: Not sure, but at some point I need to make this Pumpkin Pecan Granola!

  1. You are going to do great on your half marathon! Your training has been really solid and now you can just go out there and have fun! I am pumpkin-ing up everything I make these days! I need to check out your Pumpkin Pie smoothie link, though– and the slow cooker chicken cacciatore sounds interesting too. I have found so many great, healthy recipes through this Challenge!

  2. MMM. Looks like a bunch of awesome meals coming up this week. I’ve made pumpkin pancakes a few times but that is about it. I wish I could say I’ve been more exciting. I have been attempting to cook so that is a big deal for me. 😉

    I just busted out my slow cooker recipe books this weekend. I can’t wait to start using it every weekend to make yummy soups. It is soup weather in WA now. I love it!

  4. I haven’t cooked with pumpkin yet this season. Not sure what I’m waiting for!

    That chicken cacciatore recipe looks so yummy. I was needing another slow cooker meal to round out my October menu, and that just might be it!
