If we had coffee

It’s been a long week… my husband was at a conference for half of it, and then had a few long days at work.  I’ve been spoiled to have him working from home 2-3 days a week, so being on my own for so many back to back days was rough.  Thankfully, it’s Friday! I’ll keep  it fun and light with a catch up coffee date.

Lately, I’ve been really into Kombucha- so that would probably be my drink of choice.  How about you?

I’d love to hear what’s going on with you.  But since this is an imaginary, one-sided conversation, here’s what’s new with me:

I’m soaking up these last few months as a mom of one.  I really love the stage L’s in these days.  She’s very agreeable and helpful (most of the time!) and has been so excited to help get ready for the new baby. I love her creativity lately.  She likes making books (drawing the pictures and dictating the story to me), playing “school”, and singing or dancing around the house.  She also just wrapped up gymnastics and is starting soccer.  We’re in the experimental phase with activities- dabbling in a little bit of everything to see what she likes.

Still loving my work and surprised at how quickly I’ve been able to hit my goals.  Next week I’m presenting a workshop on “Deconstructing Your Cravings” at a corporation in NYC for their wellness series.  I’ve pushed myself to do a lot of workshops this year and found I really love them.  I’m passionate about the material and come away so energized!

I set myself up at Whole Foods this week so I could focus on the presentation.  I’m so much more distracted at home.

Working from Whole Foods

This week marks the start of the 3rd trimester… woohoo!! I’m getting so excited to meet this little one. My energy is still high, and I made a point to get to a pilates class this week to start focusing on my pelvic floor again.  I forgot that I was doing this in my first pregnancy, but came across an article lately that reminded me how important it is.

27 weeks

The nursery is coming together, too.  We found L a new “big girl” dresser with a mirror so we can put her old dresser in the baby’s room.  Now it’s just down to the final little things, like a few more cloth diapers, a hamper, possibly a bookshelf for the nursery, extra washcloths, etc.  Nothing we absolutely have to have before the baby comes, so that feels good.

Free swingWe lucked out to find this free swing at a mom swap. All these little baby things are getting me so excited to meet him/her!

L convinced me that we needed to bake this week on one of the rainy afternoons.  She asked for “healthy chocolate chip cookies”- silly girl.  I think she thinks if we make a healthier version it means she can have more of them and at any time of day she’d like one.  🙂  But I humored her and we made these paleo cookies with almond flour, coconut oil and maple syrup.  Dangerously good!

Upcoming trips

After completing IIN for health coaching, I went back for a six month Immersion program and just received my certification a few weeks ago.  I’ve done most of my learning virtually, but the school is hosting a live conference in two weeks and invited our Immersion class to attend.  I’m so excited! Now that we live close enough to pop in and out for the day, it was an easy decision.  I can’t wait to meet some of my classmates and soak up all the energy and inspiration in person.

We have quite a few other trips coming up, too.  Beach trips, family gatherings, babymoon… it’s going to be a busy spring. So that’s the update here.  How about you?

What’s something you would share with me if we were having coffee?

  1. One day we’ll have a real coffee date! Until then…I’d share that my daughter is going through the same thing with clothing – shorts over pants, crazy patterns and colors. I wonder if I could pull that off? 🙂

  3. It’s crazy that you are in the third trimester already! L is so cute…that really is a nice stage. And being stereotypical, I’ve found that my daughter loves to jump in and help with stuff, too. My son–not so much! Congrats on all the work you have going on. That’s fantastic!

I have fun plans this weekend–going to a chef’s table dinner, in a big group, to Volt, which is the restaurant owned by a finalist from Top Chef! Looking forward to it.

    • That’s awesome, Erica! I’m happy to talk to you about it anytime… and as for cost, it pays for itself quickly. I had already paid back my tuition at graduation (you can take on clients at the 6 month mark). Also- IIN is constantly sending me deals to recommend to friends so if you’re seriously considering it, let me know and I’ll send those along to you when I get them! The last one was for $1000 off but sometimes you have to act quickly.

  4. I NEED to make a decision about where to get the 2 certifications I want. Seriously considering IIN. BTW, I got your emails about the oils and definitely interested in chatting. It’s on my to-do list 🙂

We’re having a Coffee Date tomorrow. Think about joining us!

    • I just replied to Erica above about the same thing, but IIN is often sending me deals to recommend to friends so I can send that along to you if you’d like. Sometimes they’re up to $500 or $1000 off tuition but you have to be ready to act fairly quickly. I’m excited to see how this next step comes together for you!

  5. Wow, I can’t believe you’re already in your third trimester! Keep rockin’ that precious little bump, mama! If we were having coffee (decaf for you!), I’d tell you how excited/terrified that my daughter is starting kindergarten in August. Weren’t we just bringing her home just yesterday? I’d tell you how my little one’s sleep patterns (or lack thereof) are driving me nuts! And I’d tell you how happy I am to be running again!

    • I always thought I’d be ready for kindergarten but now that we’re one year out from it, I’m already getting nervous, too! And ugh on the little one’s crazy sleep… we went through more than our fair share of that.

  6. Right now, if we met for coffee, we’d likely talk about kombucha. I just started brewing my own and LOVE the stuff! That, and we’d likely talk about health coaching. I work with women battling disordered eating, so I’d tell you how this Type A, goal-oriented and pursuing gal struggles to keep patience with the clients who don’t really follow the actions steps we decide on and often progress in a one step forward, two steps back way. Just being honest…

  7. If we were having coffee, I’d like to discuss some of those books you mentioned you were reading a few Fridays ago. From that post, I thought The Diet Cure sounded interested so I’ve started reading that book — that would be the one I’d want to discuss!

  8. How lucky to get that swing! My daughter didn’t do well in most contraptions other than a swing and then later an “Exersaucer”. Hopefully you get good use out of it. We do the same thing right now, experiment in various sports to see where her natural interests and talents are. Taekwondo is the only one we’ve stayed with that has been steady and she’d really like to get back into swim with full stroke work, but sometimes it feels like too much chlorine all the time? We take breaks from stroke practice mostly to rest our skin/hair from the chemicals :/ *sigh* We’re going to try out Volleyball this summer and have already tried Tennis too. I often hear that by around 5th grade the kids start narrowing a sport/talent down more 🙂 Cheers!

    • Yep- my daughter loved the swing too but I know a lot of babies who didn’t, so I wasn’t sure about buying a new one. This was a nice compromise!

  9. I’d tell you about all the new things going on in my life right now. I’m a lot happier and it feels like the fog is lifting. I still need to work out a few things to get back on my feet but I have great people helping me along the way.

    • I LOVED it! I’m happy to talk more anytime… email me, or we can even set up a phone chat if that would be helpful. I remember feeling overwhelmed about signing up, wondering if it was the right step- but it definitely was for me!

  10. I would bring Kombucha too! I tried it the other day and loved it! I definitely think it will be something I try to rotate into my drinks a lot more! Love reading your posts, that swing is adorable, and those cookies look great! Have a wonderful weekend with your family 🙂

    • I’m glad you loved it! It can be a bit of an acquired taste, but I am really into it these days, too. Thanks so much, Tina- have a wonderful weekend, too!

  12. I love that you still use a paper organizer. I get teased when people see mine. Apparently everyone is supposed to have a phone that does that these days. Personally, I really LOVE being able to cross things off the list when I’m done with them. It’s so satisfying! 🙂

  14. If we were having coffee, I’d share that I think your friend (me) may need to be admitted to the nearest nut house. I was talked into signing up for a race at the end of the month… I haven’t done more than a fast saunter since last November. I would also show up to coffee with some sort of little gift for L and the baby. I would hug you and never want to let go, because it’s been way too long.
