Fall 5 and 10 Virtual Race Series- registration is open!

I’m really excited to kick off another Virtual Race Series!Β  Hope you are, too.Β  πŸ™‚

After focusing on short distances for the 5 by the 5th, we’re going to focus on slightly longer distances for the fall- 5 or 10 miles by the 5th of the month.

WHAT:Β  Run your 5 or 10 mile virtual race by the 5th of each month.

WHEN: The fall series will run from September- December, 2013.

WHERE: Anywhere you’d like- with friends, on a trail, or as part of your long run or a local race.

MEDALS: An optional medal will be available at the end of the series.

HOW: Sign up below and add your race to the RESULTS spreadsheet to be eligible for prizes each month.

In addition to the prizes pictured above (Tommie Copper sleeves, Nature Box snacks, Honey Stinger gels, Brady Bands, FLIPbelt, 3 Camelbak quick grasps and 2 boxes of KIND bars), I’ll also be giving away:

  • $100 gift card to LUTA (sportswear site)
  • Gaiam sports bag filled with goodies
  • 1 box of Larabars
  • 1 box of the new Probar chews
  • Words to Sweat By” jewelry
  • Dinah hot pants
  • Allied Medal Rack ($100 value)
  • and more!

You can sign up for the series below.Β  And a share on Twitter or Facebook counts toward extra prize entries.

There is also an online coaching option (more details below!) The cost is $24, or $6 a month but will increase to $35 September 1st.

New this year: Online Coaching option

I had requests for group coaching and decided to give it a whirl.

Online Coaching will include:

  • Access to a private Facebook group
  • A weekly speed workout for new and experienced runners
  • Weekly strength suggestion
  • Running tips specific to distance running
  • Group sharing and support

Note: This does not take the place of individualized coaching.Β  Group coaching is ideal if you are an experienced runner who wants to get faster, new to running and want support and accountability, or want to start incorporating strength and speed workouts on a regular basis.

Go here to sign up for group coaching.Β  Let me know if you have any questions!

(Walkers are always welcome, too!)

I’m excited to have some added motivation to push myself on tempo runs and I can’t wait to see how we all improve this fall.

Are you in?

  1. THis sounds like a lot of fun! I have never done a virtual race before but I am looking forward to it! It shouldnt be difficult getting my races in because I am currently training for my first marathon.

  2. I am so pumped for this race series! I absolutely love the 10 mile – and now I can potentially win prizes to run my favorite distance? I can’t wait!! Thanks so much!

  3. What a fun idea. I will share the info for sure, but probably won’t be getting in 5 until after the pregnancy. I always wished I was a good pregnant runner but it’s just too uncomfortable for me. Great prizes too!

  4. Hi! I’m a new running blogger and excited to find your virtual race series. I’m training for my 2nd half marathon and this should be fun to incorporate into my training plan. Thanks!

  5. I am excited for this! 5 by the 5th was wonderful! I won the rumble roller and I use it a lot (and my friends use it a lot as well)

  6. I signed up and am excited to get started. I am not always good at the spreadsheet, but I will do a better job this time. Also signed up for the coaching group. I could definitely use some speed coaching.

  7. Yay ~ This is exactly what I need! I loved the first series and am so happy you are stepping it up a notch for this next series.

  8. I am a little confused (apologies in advance) do you need to run/walk the entire 5/10 miles at one time? Is it that you are doing a total of that amount like one mile here one mile there. I don’t get it. Sorry I am new to all of this!! -Bree

  9. Woo! I have never participated in something like this but sounds like the perfect method of motivation into the Fall!
I am also currently training for my first ever race – a half marathon – at the end of September, so this fits into the goal just perfectly, as well as adds more fun and motivation for running into the colder months.

Great idea, can’t wait to participate πŸ™‚

  10. Hey Laura…I haven’t participated before so I just want to make sure I understand before registering πŸ™‚
So I just run a 5- or 10-mile “race” on my own before the 5th of each month and then record my time on the spreadsheet? And do this 4 times, once each month?

  11. Well I’m pretty new to your blog and running in general, but I am really excited to try this out! Doing my first 5 mile run next week (longest distance for me so far) Eek!
P.S. Although your runs are way out of my league, I am super motivated by your posts!

  12. Hey! I just read this post and it seems like a cool idea!!! I just want to make sure I understand it before I sign up. Can anyone sign up? So I would run a 5 or 10 mile race before the 5th of each month from Sept till Dec? Can I just use my GPS watch and race against myself or does it have to be with others? And then where do I record my times?
