Babymoon + 31 weeks pregnant belly

First of all, some exciting weekend news- I’m an aunt again! My sister had her first baby Saturday night (L’s first cousin on my side of the family).Β  He’s precious… I can’t wait to meet him and am so thrilled that our babies will be so close in age!

Since the babymoon, I can’t break the habit of napping. It was such a relaxing break from everything… we (mostly) unplugged, took lots of walks, read on the beach, watched the sunset, ate some delicious crab and shrimp, grilled veggies and steaks and napped.Β  Did I mention naps? Lots of napping. We may or may not have gotten ice cream every day, too.Β  It was heavenly.Β  πŸ™‚

And as of Friday, I hit 31 weeks! Woohoo!

Here are a few more pictures from our babymoon, and the stats of week 31 of pregnancy:

How far along: 31 weeks, 3 days

Total weight gain: up 14-15 lbs

Maternity clothes: Switching over to flowy skirts, dresses and tank tops.

Sleep: Hit or miss. About every other night I get a solid night’s sleep, and then the next night I’ll wake up several times and have trouble falling back to sleep. I’m also getting in a short cat nap almost every day!

Miss anything: Sleeping on my belly.Β  Having a normal appetite where all foods taste good.Β  Runs that feel easy!

Movement: I love watching my belly move from the outside now.Β  He/she is especially busy after dinner and right before bed.

Food cravings: Same as last time- fresh fruit and citrus.Β  I’m also loving baked potatoes!

Anything making you queasy or sick: For some reason, the last week or two have been trickier- hummus, salsa, crackers and “dry” foods like popcorn do not appeal to me.Β  Anything I cook is much less appetizing by the time I sit down to eat it.Β  I did much better on vacation when I did zero cooking!

Have you started to show yet: There is no denying it now!!

Gender: I’m surprisingly loving the suspense of a surprise.

Happy or moody most of the time: I’ve been happy the last few weeks! Getting really excited to meet this little one.

Looking forward to:Β  Finishing up the nursery.Β  One more babymoon “staycation” to catch a show and play tourist in NYC.

A little belly comparison, just for fun:

My only concern right now is that the baby is transverse (side to side instead of head down- I can feel the butt and the head on either side of my belly!) The baby still has time to move, but I’m starting to think about it more these days.Β  Please cooperate, little one!

Did you take a babymoon? Or if you plan to someday, where would you go?

Any tips for a transverse baby?

  1. Sounds like the perfect babymoon!! You are so beautiful!! I loved seeing my belly move when my girls were doing tumbles inside! It did however freak my students out quite a bit. I would catch them staring at my belly with the funniest looks on their faces!

  2. So fantastic that you got away like that! Everyone should do that before the big day, I think. We did it with our first and really enjoyed our final “alone” time.

Fingers crossed for some position changing–still plenty of time!

  3. So glad you were able to get away and really relax! I’m not much of a napper, sometimes I wish I could be though. I tend to feel worse b/c if I do actually nap, I pretty much am going to sleep for several hours.

  4. I’m not sure I’d call it a babymoon, as my,hub’s son was visiting, but we spent a week in the Bahamas with Baby 1.

Once again, while D is visiting, we’ll take a “babymoon” this time to Kalaloch.

Frankly, living a half mile from the ocean and having better access to fitness ops make this whole pregnancy a “babymoon.”

  5. Both our twins were transverse – our doula recommended chiropractor (doing this week) and doing some of the baby spinning techniques. I did some of the baby spinning stretches and one is now head down πŸ™‚ and the other is almost there – look into it!!

  6. Looks like so much fun! We had planned a 5 year anniversary vacation to Puerto Rico prior to becoming pregnant, so it turned into our baby moon between weeks 16-17! Daily naps were AMAZING, especially after being in the sun! I’m the opposite of you, I prefer the food I cook myself because of heartburn (I know all the ingredients etc) looking fantastic!!!

  7. Wow you look absolutely gorgeous and happy. I could not be happier for you, you are glowing!

If you end up deciding to do the Moorestown 8k let me know! My running store helps to put it on so I’ll def be there! πŸ™‚ (It’s a pretty flat and fun course. It’s also not expensive at all).

    • Hey Hollie! Just wanted to let you know that I won’t be there tomorrow. I was trying to figure out a way to squeeze it in, but it’s also my daughter’s last soccer game for the season and the only one I can actually make it to since I don’t have to teach spin tomorrow. But one of these times I’ll see you at a local race!! Good luck!

  8. So glad you had a chance to take a little babymoon. It’s so nice! I would love to go sit on a beach and just sleep and read. Can I have a babymoon post baby? Like a year later? πŸ™‚

  9. Sounds like you had a nice, relaxing babymoon! Mirella was transverse at the exact same time and turned, but butt down, at 34 weeks and then turned head down (with the help of me doing daily inversion exercises!) at 37 weeks. You definitely still have time, but I can completely relate to you about starting to get a little worried. I kept thinking about all of the worst case scenarios, but fortunately, she turned and everything went well!

  10. Check out spinning babies website, good tips on there and techniques. I also find chiro helps too and accupuncture. I have had 2 out of 3 posterior babes and this one likes to rotate in and out if posterior. The chiropractor gave me some ligament exercises and the acupuncturist gave me moxa to burn over that acupuncture point. Actually Tim does it for me since it is over my little toe! πŸ™‚ sounds like you had a relaxing time on your baby moon, good to get away and naps are good!
