About

Welcome! I’m Laura- a social worker (MSW) turned stay-at-home mom to L (born January 2012), and now a holistic health counselor.  I’m also a RRCA certified running coach and part time spin instructor. I love running, fitness, healthy holistic living, music, family time and experimenting in the kitchen.

“Mommy, run fast!” is one of my daughter’s favorite phrases from the seat of the stroller! This blog is a compilation of healthy living and running tips, training, and a few toddler and family recipes along the way.

I played sports in middle and high school, but only started running in college as a fun and easy way to get a little exercise.  Three friends and I decided to train for a half marathon, and ran our first 13.1 mile race together at the 2002 Philadelphia Distance Run.  I was hooked!  I’ve been running consistently since then, including up to the day before L was born.

I’ve run races of every distance, and completed my first full marathon in May 2011 and my first triathlon in July 2012. (Find more on my races here).

I’m also fascinated by nutrition, and have experimented with “healthifying” a number of recipes over the years.  As a mom, I also want to teach my daughter about tasty, healthy food, and instill in her a love for fresh, whole foods.

For more about me, here’s a link to my birth story,  an additional 21 Things about me, and a few more random facts.  You can learn more about my coaching services here.

I love connecting with other runners, moms, and those passionate about health and fitness.  To connect further, you can subscribe to my blog’s RSS feed or via email.  You can also find me on Twitter, Facebook and Google.

I’m also on Pinterest and Instagram.

Thanks for stopping by! I’d love to hear from you- feel free to email me anytime at mommyrunfaster(@)gmail.com.
