A shoulder workout + non maternity clothes I’ve used in pregnancy

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend.

As I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy, I’m finding (again) that workout gear doesn’t have to be expensive or even maternity to fit around a 8 or 9 month belly.

I like to splurge on a few nice pieces, but Target® is one of my go to places for affordable (yet cute) running gear.  I was excited to have the opportunity to try two pieces the last few weeks and found both can work for pregnancy (and will fit beyond as well).  This tank top and shorts are from the Target® C9 collection:

Target C9 tank and shorts

The tank top is long enough to stretch over my belly and is perfect for summer running. I went up a size to ensure it would have a little extra room but it didn’t feel too baggy. The mesh tank stays nice and cool, and has wicking material.  It also has a built in shelf bra (although I like to add the pads from another bra for extra support).  I also love the color options and the cute back.

The shorts surprised me with this extra band that has some give to stretch around my belly.

They are also moisture wicking, with an inner lining and a small, front inner pocket.  Another plus is that they have reflective lines on the sides to improve visibility on early morning runs.
Both pieces are versatile enough for any kind of workout. The day I got them, I tried them on and ended up wearing them for the rest of the day without ever getting in a workout in them.  They were too comfortable to worry about changing!

The tank top also worked out great for my sweaty spin class:

Besides running, I plan to continue my strength workouts as I transition into marathon training mode this fall.  PopSugar put together a summer workout for toning your shoulders.  It’s only five minutes, but you’ll be feeling it!

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Target® C9 through their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. While I was compensated to write a post about Target® C9, all opinions are my own.

Do you have any Target workout gear?

What pieces do you prefer to splurge vs save money on?

  1. You look great and I think that is smart (not spending a ton on work out clothes you won’t need for a while). You are awesome and I applaud you working out through pregnancy. Happy last few weeks! :-)

  2. Awesome Laura! Looks great! I don’t have any Target clothes, but I love when any real estate of running clothing is taken from the Nike market…..and of course I love my sponsor. It makes me smile when I see other companies have really thought about the things that people want in their running clothes, and they have made the changes to compete with the giants. Glad to see that is the case with Target! You are glowing lovely! So excited for you!

  3. I love POP Sugar workout videos! I’ll have to try this one :)

I absolutely love the C9 line from Target. I have a TON of their gear. It’s affordable and fits great.

  4. I love Target for just about everything. I really love their bras. You can’t beat them for the price! You look so cute and I’m glad to hear that you will be keeping up with the strength training!

  5. I basically only workout in Target clothes. I actually have that tank top, and it works with or without a pregnant belly :) Thanks for sharing the shoulder workout, too. I’m collecting these strength training exercises that can be done at home because I’m thinking about getting a membership to a good cycling studio nearby rather than having a gym membership. We’ll have to see, though! Happy Monday!

  6. I have recently discovered Target’s workout gear and I LOVE IT! I am not sure I’ll be buying any other for awhile. I’m still stuck on my Nike shorts but their shirts are great!

  7. I wear a maternity support undergarment whenever I exercise or jog. While target has some fairly reasonable prices on some things, I’d never buy maternity clothes from there. The reason? Target’s prices are several times higher than I pay elsewhere.

For regular maternity clothes I shop at a local pregnancy boutique here in Mobile. They don’t have a website, but have adorable clothes and great prices. For maternity support belts and exercise undergarments, I shop at a place called Egan Medical. They carry some of the same exact products as target, but for a whole lot less. I know, I was stunned too when I saw a product Wal-mart and Target were charging upwards of $60 for listed at $35 at a store I’ve never heard of, but it turned out to be true.
