5 by the 5th Virtual Race, winners and link up

This has been one of my lowest mileage running weeks, thanks to the never ending snow! I was planning to run Monday and Wednesday, and both days we had 6+ inches of snow, some ice on Wednesday, schools closed, and even our gym closed both days.

So I made due with some elliptical (in our basement) and snow shoveling. I finally made it to the gym yesterday for 5 easy miles.Β  My 5 by the 5th race was on Saturday, when it was snowy, but beautiful (and above 30!).Β  I ran my 5 miles as part of the trail race that I recapped here.

  1. The snow has put a rut into my workout plans as well and I’ve run far more on the treadmill. I’m glad you have been able to get some runs in though. Some is always better then none.

  2. Congrats to all the winners!! I’ll have to incorporate this into my weekly rundown so I can link up πŸ™‚
As for ALL this snow? I have to do loops of my neighborhood this morning to get in my long run since the roads have no room!!!

  3. I am getting sick of the treadmill and braving colder and colder temps — but I can’t run if it’s icy. As I was doing my 5K on the track this week, I wondered how many other were braving the elements and overcoming other obstacles to get their runs in, and I really want to thank you for doing this!

  4. I managed to just do one treadmill run this week, it is starting to drive me crazy!!! I did get outside for the other runs, although it was pretty dangerous a few times, just had to be very careful, and keep my runs in certain areas. On one of my runs I ran around the hospital grounds about 6 times! They must have wondered what i was doing! I managed over 70 miles for the week though πŸ™‚ Hoping this weather lets up soon and we can all get back outside!

  5. Wow what I rough week. I had so many obstacles get in way. I started great with 2.5 miles on Saturday but ended up in hospital on Sunday. I only made a 5k and had to count the last mile on the stress test treadmill. But I passed and don’t have any heart issues so I look forward to rocking this next month.

  6. I bet the snow is a big change from Texas! I loved being out in the snow when we lived in Virginia, but I’m sure it snows a bit more up North. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Congrats to all the winners!! And congrats to everyone for running, outside or treadmill, as this has been one of the worst winters I have seen in a long time!! So much snow, ice and cold temps but trying to get out and run as I don’t have access to a treadmill. The next coming weeks are looking better where I live so I’m hoping for 3 runs a week! Have a great weekend!!

  8. You are a rock star for shoveling while pregnant! πŸ™‚ I don’t even like to do it when I’m not pregnant.

The weather did affect my race. I was hoping to run outside but ended up on the treadmill because I woke up to ice. Then we got a bunch of snow and school was cancelled for 3 days. I literally have not been out of my house since Sunday. Crazy!

  9. I ran low mileage this week too and there is no snow here. It has actually been good weather but I started having a sore throat that turned into a cold with fever. Not fun at all and didn’t run as much as I wanted to. I am pretty happy with my time for 5K although I wanted to run 5 miles but the cold wasn’t helping. All in all, a run is a run.

  10. I haven’t been running much, but a lot of my runs have been on the treadmill, thanks to icy roads. Spring can come any day now….
