5 by the 5th Link up and what’s next

This week wraps up the final month for the 5 by the 5th virtual race series.  I love reading about your running experiences and seeing your progress each month.  I’m a little sad it’s wrapping up already!

I ran my 5k this week, and realized how much I’m going to miss this 3 mile loop when we move next month.  I’ve been spoiled to have this trail right out my door!

What’s next?

I’ve had many requests to continue the series.  I’m taking a break to focus on our move next month, but would love to pick it up again in the fall.

I’m planning to host a fall 5 and 10 mile series for a few months where we focus more on distance (and tempo workouts), and then a spring 5 by the 5th for the shorter distances and speed.

Both sessions will have a group coaching option, where participants can

  • join a Facebook support group
  • receive weekly speed workouts
  • receive weekly strength routine suggestions for runners
  • nutrition tidbits for athletes
  • ask questions and be supported by other runners

I’ll plan to have an optional medal for each series as well, since so many of you love the bling!  Keep an eye out for more info in the next month or so.

  1. No recap for me this time (since I had to walk it). But, it was fun! And my 5k times that happened during races did improve significantly- from 25:15 on NYE to 24:36 on May 18, and an unofficial 5k PR of 24:04 (the course read .1 short so I hate to count it).
    The fall series should fit perfectly with marathon training- extra incentive to get those long runs done! Can’t wait.

  2. I think I missed the beginning of the series so I was a little out of the loop as to what it was all about. I’ll be interested to learn more about it when you start it up again. My favorite running trail is a greenways trail that runs right near my house. It’s not the most interesting trail in the world, but you can’t beat the convenience!

  3. Great series you put on here…I’m sure a fall version will be a hit. My favorite run is out my door and down around a local lake. About 6 1/2 miles and always a pleasure!

  7. What a great series this was! Several of my runs were post race, so it was hard to guage actual progress but I was happy to be consistent with it :)

  8. I’m totally jealous of that gorgeous trail! There are no good trails within walking/running distance of my home, so most of my running is done on sidewalks – dodging pedestrians.

    My favourite runs are down to the waterfront, or up a local mount to enjoy the view.
