37 Weeks Pregnant Update + Guess the Due Date

Somehow my last “official” pregnancy update was from 34 weeks.  How did three more weeks just fly by?!

If you’ve been following my workout updates on Sundays, you saw that I manged to get in some decent runs, spin classes and weight circuits in weeks 35 and 36.  Last week was different.

Week 37 decided to remind me that I am indeed pregnant and my body is changing in ways that are out of my control.  Last week, I began to have back pressure and pain toward the end of every day, something my midwife has been asking me about for weeks now because of how low the baby sits (and the fact that baby is sunny side up and putting a lot of pressure on my back).

Along with the back ache, running felt off so most of my runs were switched to walks last week.  And then this weekend I felt great and I got in a slow four miles yesterday.  So I may have 1 or 2 runs left in me, but regardless of when I stop, I’m happy to have run for as long as I did.

Here’s the belly at weeks 35 and 36:

We need to take a 37 week picture, other than the one from the pool yesterday.

What else is happening:

How far along: 37 weeks, 3 days

Total weight gain: up 16-17 lbs (almost exactly where I was with my first)

Maternity clothes: I am living in dresses and comfy skirts and loving them.

Sleep: I hit the point where my bladder is officially squashed and I get up at least once a night to pee.

Miss anything: Energy! Comfortably bending over.  Motivation to cook. Runs faster than 10:00 pace.

Movement: I forgot how strong babies get by the end- some of these kicks hurt!

Food cravings: My appetite is back full force- this time the most appealing foods are carbs and sweets, but I’m also eating a lot of chicken, salmon, sauerkraut, greens, nut butter with banana, watermelon and scrambled egg wraps.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Hummus is not appealing.  Dark chocolate is losing it’s appeal, too.

Have you started to show yet: No denying it!

Happy or moody most of the time: Just this past week the heat and poor sleep was hitting me- I’d say I was more moody than usual, but still generally in a good mood. I’m ready to be done!

Looking forward to:  Meeting this little one!

I’m really excited to be in the home stretch.  Which leads me to my question for today- any guesses on a due date?

Here are a few facts to consider:

  • Official due date is August 1
  • My daughter came ten days early, at 38 and a half weeks (this doesn’t necessarily mean anything!)

Due date guesses? Maybe I can even come up with a prize for the winner.  🙂

Did anyone else have back pain toward the end of their pregnancy? I didn’t feel any aches or cramping until I went into labor with L, so it’s all new to me.

  1. Ahhh how exciting Laura! Cant believe it! You are absolutely glowing, and have handled it so well. Hummus doesn’t sound good right now huh? I made a batch the other day….but did it in the wrong order, and it ended up stiff….now I am put off for a while haha! Im gonna guess August 6, as that is my birthday 🙂

  2. i definitely had a similar experience. i ran to 37 weeks with my first pregnancy and mostly quit because it was so hot (august baby!) and then i was pregnant for 41 weeks.
with my second, i had a lot of back pain AFTER running and cramping DURING running, so i made it to 34 weeks.
my doctor recommended a heating pad for my back, which really helped.
what i REALLY wanted was a bunch of ibuprofen and a big glass of wine 🙂

  3. I’m guessing July 27! I’ve been having constant BH and wondering when the real contractions will come 🙂

  4. I’d go with 2 weeks after this new resurgence in your appetite… and I’d put it on a Saturday because you’ve taught me that Saturdays are about a lot of work! 😉 So that would be 7/26… if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s so frustrating to look forward to an early delivery and then not have it happen. Adding a few days for mental health brings us to 7/30….says the woman who’s never really met you – isn’t the internet grand?

Wishing you a safe & short “labor day” !

  5. Both of my babies were 2 and a half weeks early! It sounds like you could go a little early again? Mine were both breech so I ended up with c-sections. I have heard how uncomfortable sunny side up can be. thankfully the weather has cooled a bit and you can stay comfortable until your little one arrives. Can’t wait to hear the news!

  6. My sister is due on Monday! She is so ready to go. Those last few weeks are always so drawn out and long…especially with the second. My guess is August 3rd! Think you’ll go on or just after your due date:)

  7. So exciting that you are almost there!!

I started to feel lower back pain with pressure one week before I went into labor with Keenan (10 days early) and I felt a lot of lower pressure 3 days before I went into labor with Mirella (10 days early, too). I’m guessing your little one will come early, so I would say July 24!

  8. i hope baby stays in as long as he/she needs! so i’m going to go with july 31 as my guess. you look AMAZING and have so much energy! so glad everything is going so well with this pregnancy. i bet L is getting really excited to be a big sister.

  9. You look great! I’m also due on August 1st!! I wasn’t able to run much past 29 weeks, I just couldn’t take the pressure in my pelvis any longer. 🙂

    My guess is July 26th!

  10. I had SO much pain with my 2nd child, and hardly any with my 1st! I always felt it was because my body was already “broken in” after my 1st, so I felt everything so much more! Also, I tend to have very large babies, so that could be why as well. I’m now pregnant with my 3rd, and so far I’ve already experienced pains, and I’m only 9 weeks along! It might be a long 9 months…Oh well…

I’m going to guess August 7th, because that’s my birthday. 🙂 Though for your sake, I do hope it happens sooner! 🙂

  11. I’m going to guess July 30th! Whenever baby does arrive, I wish you a happy, healthy delivery!

  12. I’m so excited for you!! Your in the last stretch and doing great, such an inspiration to me :). I’m going to guess 7/25 because that’s 39 weeks and that is how long they like them to bake these days and it’s a little early too 🙂
