What a fun week… L turned 3 on Tuesday, and the birthday celebrations lasted all week. On Tuesday, we made special pancakes with whipped cream and berries, and let her choose the activity (Children’s Museum). We finished the day with dinner out and an ice cream cone.
Is there anything better?
Her grandparents and extended family mailed gifts this week, so the birthday fun continued. It culminated with a party last night at a nearby park. She could not wait, and asked about every 30 minutes if it was time to go to her party yet.
I kept her busy helping me decorate the snowman cupcakes that she had requested.
I love that our friends are her friends parents right now, so a party for her is an excuse to hang out with our favorite people. Win win!
We’re so thankful for our sweet, silly, curious, creative, passionate, lively, singing, dancing, “why”-”how” little girl.
As for weekly workouts, I’m feeling back to normal. I got in 3 runs, 3 spin classes, and 3 strength sessions, plus some walking on these incredibly gorgeous days we’ve been having. Next week I’ll start recapping my workouts again.
With sicknesses at the start of the week, and the party to think about, I confess that my meal planning went out the window this week. So I’m planning to get some ideas from the links today and piece it together.

AW! happy birthday little L! love the cupcakes!

Looks like L had a great birthday! I need to think about my meals for the week today, too. I’m considering cooking a big batch of crockpot chicken, and also some quinoa to have on hand.

Happy Birthday to your sweet little girl (didn’t know she and I are practically b-day buddies). Three is such a fun age–in fact, they’re all fun from now on. And one good thing about living where you guys do–outside parties in January!
Those snowman cupcakes are fantastic.
Crazy, isn’t it? It will probably be the last time she’ll ever have an outdoor birthday party… we lucked out with the weather. And if we move back to the northeast, maybe it could be a sledding party??

I was thinking I should share the cupcake recipe… I lightened up a classic chocolate cupcake. Stay tuned.

It could definitely work! It was ironic enough that it was 70 something degrees here in January for snowmen…

It was work that derailed my dinners last night. Tonight was the first night I cooked since Monday, which was a holiday. Even as my kids grew older our the friends/parents trend continued–kind of inevitable when you spend hours in the bleachers cheering your kids’ teams.

Oh, good- I hope that’s the case… we may be moving this summer, which will change our friends again.
It’s so convenient to be friends with families in the same stage of life.
